The West Wave Dance Festival was founded in 1991 and has been produced by SAFEhouse Arts since 2013. West Wave is presented in the fall and usually has an open call for applications in the spring (contact staff for deadlines). It sometimes has a residency component and artists are expected to volunteer in the areas of Development, Marketing, Operations and Production. West Wave artists also participate in monthly meetings and are paid a modest stipend. Both RAW and AIRspace choreographers frequently contribute to West Wave.
WTF focuses on solo performance, experimental theatre and small performance ensembles from various disciplines. WTF is usually curated by invitation but potential artists are encouraged to send inquiries to SAFEhouse Arts staff to learn more. Both RAW and AIRspace artists frequently contribute to WTF. which features solo shows, experimental performance and small theatrical ensembles.
